We all have distinct perspectives on how music is woven into our lives; for some, it is a source of healing; for others, it is a means of concentration; and for a few, it is a means of distraction and an enjoyable pastime. Most of the time, We all devour, enjoy, and are affected by music. Almost any enthralling melody can stir up and captivate our inner being, and within the intricate folds of our brains, we have mesmerizing melodies waiting to be unlocked. I can unequivocally state that music has a quite profound connection with everything from a harmonious interplay between melodies and the brain to a cognitive, emotional, and therapeutic dimension. In this highly competitive world, a high GPA is not enough to secure a residency seat. Your extracurricular activities can be a way to set you apart from other applicants.  Recently, a study showed that there is an immense impact of extracurricular activities on radiology residents’ selection process (1).  A survey was conducted by NRMP across 23 prestigious medical schools and it was found that 54 percent of respondents have agreed that volunteering/ extracurricular activities are an important factor in selecting applicants to interview.
