Medical student clubs in Georgia
In this highly competitive world, a high GPA is not enough to secure a residency seat. Your extracurricular activities can be a way to set you apart from other applicants.
Recently, a study showed that there is an immense impact of extracurricular activities on radiology residents’ selection process (1). A survey was conducted by NRMP across 23 prestigious medical schools and it was found that 54 percent of respondents have agreed that volunteering/ extracurricular activities are an important factor in selecting applicants to interview. My last advice would be to try and attend as many workshops or conferences as possible to gain more knowledge and skills. Moreover, if you can join any leadership roles in these clubs would be beneficial to you. All the best for your future endeavors.
